FISH WHANGAROA HARBOUR – MARLIN CAPITAL OF NZ!

We are pleased to be hosting this year’s event, and we are in the 7^th year of hosting this event at Whangaroa (would have been 9 years if Covid had not happened). We had an over whelming response and this year’s competition is sold out. It’s great to continue the ITM Trade Fishing Comp at Whangaroa, it is an amazing place to host the event and Far North ITM are pleased to be able to host other ITM stores and their customers this year.

We are pleased to announce that Matt Watson will back this year with the Mongrel Pig Dogs team, Matt always enjoys a catch up with the ITM customers and stores and sharing in the latest fishing stories.

Last year was our biggest Calcutta ever at $25k which was split into 4 divisions, so make sure you have your cash on hand to place a bid on the night.

 There are some fantastic fishing grounds out there with plenty of potential spot X’s and we should expect some “reel” good fishing.  No pressure but I'm looking forward to seeing some great catches come in. 

ITM and suppliers have ensured there are some fantastic prizes on offer this year. So be sure to check the competition categories and plan your fishing for maximum impact. As always, we are promoting sustainable fishing practices. So, more points and greater prizes are on offer for tag and release than weighed fish.

OVER $15,000 IN PRIZES TO BE WON

Located in the Far North, between Kerikeri to the South and Mangonui in the North, Whangaroa is a safe, all-weather harbour and is the gateway to the Cavalli Islands. 

Once again, we will be awarding prizes for both sport and game fish caught during the tournament so there is an opportunity for everyone to get their hands on a share of the $15,000 prize pool. If it’s snapper or kingfish that really get your rod jigging, you can bring your trailer boat and fish for them to your heart’s content.  If you’ve had your fill of filleting snapper, you can head out into the wild blue yonder in search of the heart-racing, adrenaline-pumping action of the marlin fight—after all Whangaroa is the Marlin Capital of NZ!

After each stunning day of fishing, head back into the sheltered waters of Whangaroa Harbour. We’ll have the major prize giving and dinner on Saturday night.
